Following the success of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel Home opened close to Baltimore in 2018, the model now nears the official opening of a brand new, related facility in Chicago.
Guinness Open Gate Brewery Chicago has an official opening date — Thursday, September 28. Doorways open at 8 a.m., in time for the morning commute with Guinness’ personal freshly baked brown bread, Intelligentsia espresso and various treats from Aya Pastry.
Situated at 901 W Kinzie, the taproom, restaurant and bakery is housed in a 15,000-square-foot former rail depot within the West Loop. Designer Karen Herold of Studio Ok Artistic reworked the long-vacant constructing into an environmentally sustainable, state-of-the-art brewery and taproom with a epic patio with stairs harking back to Chicago’s Riverwalk steps, a model consultant says.
Anticipate rotating experimental draughts brewed onsite which are solely accessible within the taproom, alongside signatures like Guinness Draught Stout straight from Dublin.
The culinary program can be led by Dream Group Hospitality, a three way partnership between Chicago’s Hyde Park Hospitality and Stefani Restaurant Group, with Chef Taylor Bischof on the helm. The meals menu attracts inspiration from the brewery’s Irish roots and world footprint alongside reimagined Chicago classics like Giardiniera Dip.
Along with morning bakery and café service, Guinness OGB Chicago will supply an all-day restaurant and taproom menu plus brunch on weekends.
